Letter: Many contributed to car show's success

To the editor:

Historic New England’s Phillips House hosted its 12th annual Car Meet on Sunday, Aug. 11. More than 600 visitors enjoyed free house tours, great jazz music by the Trent Austin duo, and a wonderful array of 75 antique and vintage cars parked up and down Chestnut Street. We are proud to have this event cap off a series of excellent family and cultural events that celebrate Salem’s Heritage Days.

This event would not be possible without the generosity of the members of the North Shore Old Car Club. For 12 years, members and their friends have provided a wonderful range of automobiles that have made historic Chestnut Street even more impressive. Our sponsors for the event, Auto Body Restorations of Salem, Bouchard & Sons Inc., Naumkeag Used Auto Parts, Next Step Living, RFT Insurance of Lynnfield, the Salem Witch Museum and Spinale Automotive, made it possible to keep this a free event for visitors. Historic New England is grateful for their contributions.

The Phillips House staff looks forward to hosting the North Shore Old Car Club and all of our visitors as we celebrate the 13th annual Phillips House Car Meet in August 2014.
