Letter: Community came together to support sister

To the editor:

I just want to take this chance to say thank you to The Salem News for publishing the information on the cancer fundraiser for my sister, Donna Nicholas, held last month.

Your publicizing of the event made all the difference.

I would like to thank all those who helped make that event a success and helped Donna so much.

There are people in the medical office where Donna worked before becoming ill: Cornell Orthotics and Prosthetics in Beverly — Lauren, Bev and Maureen, and also the doctors there.

Then, there were the people who donated gift cards, certificates and items: Mandees of Salem, Supinos of Peabody, Gloria Foods in Beverly, Jimmy’s Roast Beef in Danvers, Danvers House of Pizza, Deb’s Diner in Salem, Nicole’s Nails in Danvers and Eagle Nails of Salem.

I would like to thank all those who helped with food preparation, set up and cleanup: Lauren, Lisa Kiwatz, Diane Tassinari, Mark Jalbert, Muriell Bennett, Roxanne Lamb and Kathy.

Most of all, I would like to thank Donna’s friends, who came to the event to cheer her on and brighten her day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And a special “thank you” to my mother-in-law, Lynn, for all her help.

Michelle Mercier
