Letter: Burgers, golf made for 'terrific'' event

To the editor:

Saturday, Sept. 21, was a great day for golfers and Salem schoolchildren. A full complement of foursomes teed off at The Meadow course to begin a great day put together by Patty and Dennis Levasseur, indefatigable supporters of all things helpful to others.

The golf was great. The post-golf festivities conducted by the Tin Whistle Cafe were, as they are every year, terrific. Several newcomers to the festivities were making plans to return for the Tin Whistle’s “burger night” for “the best burger we ever had.”

The results were fabulous. The event added more than $4,000 to the resources employed by Salem Children’s Charity to assist Salem schoolchildren whose lives are affected by sudden tragedy or ongoing difficulties with life’s basics.

Salem Children’s Charity would like to express thanks to Patty, Dennis, the Tin Whistle and all the golfers. It’s a great thing you do.
