Letter: Thanks to all who helped with magical event

To the editor:

On Nov. 1, our team at Lorraine Roy Designer Collections was honored to host “Illusions: A Magical Fashion Event to Help Make Breast Cancer Disappear” at the Danversport Yacht Club to benefit the breast oncology program at Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center. The event drew more than 500 guests, who were treated to cocktails and magic, dueling pianos, and a fantastic fashion show. Our 12 breast cancer survivors from the North Shore, who modeled designer trenches with pink pashminas, absolutely stole the show.

The event surpassed all of our expectations, and we were able to raise much-needed funds to help breast cancer patients right here in our community. We were touched and humbled by the outpouring of support from the public, the generosity of so many businesses and the collaborative efforts of so many volunteers, including our beautiful models, who donated countless hours to the goal of putting on an evening that was truly magical in so many ways.

There are too many people to thank individually, but we would like to acknowledge our major sponsors, including Danvers Butchery, North Shore Plastic Surgery, Corporate Cost Control, Bella Sera Bridal, People’s United Bank, East Boston Savings Bank, Cranney Home Services, Paula’s Hair and Day Spa, and The Makeup Artists. We would also like to thank our emcee, media personality Kim Carrigan, as well as our other special guests, including Country 102.5’s Lori Grande and Magic 106.7’s Candy O’Terry, who delighted the crowd with an incredible vocal performance of “To Make You Feel My Love.” We are also grateful to the dozens of businesses, in-kind donors and community members who so graciously supported the event.

Thanks to everyone who chose to be a part of this magical evening and who are committed to finding a cure for breast cancer. I am proud to be a part of such a dynamic community.
