Letter: Community comes out for troops

To the editor:

The second annual Night of Freedom held at the VFW on Sept. 21 was a great success. Seaboard Products was our sponsor for the evening; thank you for your assistance in sending our care packages to the troops. Marblehead Stones played while the crowd danced the night away.

Welcome home to Bill Frost and congratulations for winning the Kindle, and to Kate Birtwell for winning the lobsters.

The VFW hosted CAPTS and the community to a great night out for all. We raised more than $1,000, which helps to mail the care packages to our troops and let them know that they are in our thoughts.

To the Marblehead Little Theatre, thank you so very much. They had a private show to support the efforts of CAPTS in caring for our men and women in harm’s way. These care packages are much like the actors and actresses; they take you out of the moment of reality. They take you to a place and time they create. The items inside these simple boxes from home bring the feeling of joy knowing that we are thinking of them. The medley of hits and preview of The Drowsy Chaperone was excellent, and being part of CAPTS efforts was really special. We thank you for the experience.

We would also like to thank all who help support our cause. Our military are our family. Don’t forget to wear red on Fridays, a national awareness that we have for troops in harm’s way.

God bless all of the troops, family and friends of CAPTS and, again, thank you.
