Letter: Salem Mission did well by her son

To the editor:

I am just a mom and grandmom, but it really upsets me how there is so much hassle about the Salem Mission and how people are trying to preserve certain things about St. Mary's.

The Salem Mission has been a great blessing to our family. If it weren't for the Salem Mission, my son, who is 40 years old and with mental problems, would be out on the street.

They have been such a great support for our son. For over a year he lived at the Salem Mission. They embraced him and now he has his own studio apartment there. He pays rent and takes his medication, see his doctors, etc.

I am so grateful for the Salem Mission because he would've been just one lost soul wandering around Salem. It really is a shame that people don't get what a great job they do.
