To the editor:
Salem Main Streets would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated in the staffing of this year's Visitor Information Booth.
The booth served more than 16,000 visitors on weekends during the busy month of October, the most successful year to date. Volunteers helped visitors from all over the world by offering them a warm welcome to Salem, giving them maps and sharing information.
Salem Main Streets appreciates the partnership of the City of Salem, Destination Salem, the National Park Service and the Salem Chamber of Commerce on this project. We would like to extend a special thank-you to Michelle Blees, Ellen Talkowsky and the Department of Public Works for their roles in making it a success.
Thank you also to the businesses who donated items for the volunteer appreciation reception: Lobster Shanty, Maria's Sweet Somethings and Ristorante Gioia.
The Visitor Information Booth was a great success due to the help of our 37 volunteers who donated over 300 hours of their time: Donna Barrett, Judy Bircher, Shifra Boudreau, Kathleen Burke, David Coates, Joe Cole, Judy Giunta, Susan Dame Greene, Beth Doiron, Phil Dwight, Stan Franzeen, Gary Gill, Stephanie Hagyard, Christian Haselgrove, Judy Kearney, Barbra Kern, Don Lord, Joe Marshall, Judy Marshall, Cheryl Michaels, Gary Michaels, Victoria Morrison, Anne Myers, Rene Nourie, Kelly O'Connor, Deborah Peretti, Anne Reardon, Patricia Reed, Mira Riggin, Leanne Schild, Anthony Scialis, Andrew Scialis, Cheryl Scialis, Sharon Smith, Beverly Strauss, Bob Strauss and Kathy Winn. Without their dedication, generous donation of time and support, the achievements made by the information booth would not have been possible.
