Letter: Looking for outstanding Boy Scout leaders

To the editor:

As we gather with our families at Thanksgiving or perhaps attend a high-school football game and run into old classmates and friends, we tend to look back at all the things we are thankful for. For Boy Scouts, we remember our leaders who have inspired us.

On Feb. 9, 2010, The Boy Scouts of America will celebrate its 100-year anniversary nationwide. Boy Scouts of all ages, current and past, will get back in touch with their scouting family and reminisce over the times they had together.

The National Hall of Leadership was developed to recognize those Scouts who have touched our lives in ways that have helped us to become better adults and citizens. In honor of the 100-year celebration we ask that you take a moment to visit www.scouting.org/100years and nominate a Scout leader, volunteer, or Scout who has shown exemplary behavior that reflects the virtues of character, achievement, leadership and citizenship.

Tell us your story as you recount this person's love of scouting and unselfish devotion to the organization that has shaped the lives of many young men who are our leaders, fathers, brothers and mentors today. The National Hall of Leadership will select those recipients who have shown exemplary service and commitment and honor them during the 100-year celebration beginning in 2010.
