Thanks: Many helped motivate Peabody girls soccer team

To the editor:

I would like to give thanks to some special people involved with the Peabody Tanners girls soccer team's run to the Division 1 state title and undefeated (22-0-2) season.

Thanks to all the girls for their never-say-die and always-believe attitude. You are an inspiration.

Thanks to Coach Desroches for eating, breathing and living soccer.

Thanks to fill-in cameramen Peter DiGiacomo and Sean Dowd.

Thanks to D.M.T. for everything.

Thanks to the Chelmsford referee for providing the motivation for the Division 1 North title game.

Thanks to Stan McKeen, Don Aluni, Dennis Grube and Steve Rizzo of Peabody Youth Soccer for providing the bus and admission to the state championship game at Worcester State University for the high school fans. Well done.

Thanks to Superintendent Levine for providing the coach bus for the team to Worcester. Nice touch.

Thanks to the Peabody Police Department for the escort home from Lynn, Weymouth and Worcester. It really made it unforgettable for the girls!

Thanks to Peabody Access TV, and especially to Don Murphy for his tireless support of the program and 24/7 availability. You can play on any team I have.

Special thanks to Gene Giacchino. Your dedication, commitment and willingness to jump in with both feet are second to none. I am proud to call you my friend.

Wishes for the future: A turf field stadium commensurate with the stellar performance of the Peabody girls and boys soccer programs.
