Letter: Community made Lady of Salem a success

To the editor:

On behalf of the Salem Beautification Committee’s Lady of Salem Maritime Public Art Project, I would like to truly thank the sponsors, artists and volunteers who made our 2013 voyage a smooth sailing success.

We are grateful for our new 2013 participants: Mary-Ellen Smiley of Gordon College, the fifth-grade art class at Bates Elementary school, MaryKate Ross of Witch Tee’s, the YMCA’s Girls Today and Judith Pabich of the Salem Inn. We appreciate the return of the following 2012 sponsors/artists: Cynthia Mikula Smiszek of Bernard’s Jewelers, Keri May Killam of the Home Depot, Karen LaMesa and Tina Armstrong of the Salem Five Charitable Foundation, John Devine of the Palmer’s Cove Yacht Club, Sheila Billings of Cabot Money Management Inc., Jeanne Pare of Treasures Over Time, Amberlynn Narvie of Beverly Cooperative Bank, Jeanne Pare of Witch Way Gifts, and Dori Phillips of Scratch Kitchen. A deep debt of gratitude is owed to web designer Sara Maurno and graphic designer Adele Maestranzi. Many thanks to Sally Millice, Ben Arlander, Ellen Talkowsky and Salem’s department of public works.

This project has been supported by a Salem Cultural Council Grant. Please visit our website, or our Facebook page and consider becoming a sponsor or artist for Lady of Salem 2014.
