Letter: Arc tournament passes $2 million mark

To the editor:

I’m pleased to share that at this year’s Mike Frangos Commodore Invitational Golf Tournament the total money raised for Northeast Arc since the annual event’s inception exceeded $2 million. This year alone, the tournament brought a net of $103,000 for the non-government funded programs and services that Northeast Arc provides to children and adults with disabilities.

Success of this magnitude would not be possible without the support and efforts of many people, in this case led by the committee chairman, Mark Thompson of Boxford. Mark was a personal friend of tournament founder Mike Frangos and he was honored this year for his contributions to the success of the event, along with Beverly’s Steve Davidson and Ray McGuiggin of Danvers (also personal friends of Mike’s), members of the Golf Committee for a remarkable 38 years. It takes the help of major sponsors like Boston Private Bank & Trust, cm&b, KPMG and Danvers Ford (among many others) to host an outing like this each year.

We thank the entertaining and engaging Hank Morse from WROR, our special guest and auctioneer. And as always, the staff at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton deserves special mention for their professionalism and support before and during the event.

We cannot possibly list everyone who donated to the event in some way, but we know that Northeast Arc would not be able to continue to help the 7,000 people we serve annually throughout Massachusetts without the support of our neighbors in the community. Your contributions help us fulfill our mission of helping children and adults with disabilities live their fullest lives possible, choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play.
