Letter: Community came together for fundraiser

To the editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the April 13 fundraiser for the Stephen J. Korumpas Memorial Scholarship a great success. Because of your generosity, a Salem High School senior matriculating to Salem State University will receive a $2,000 scholarship, as well as a $500 book allowance. What a great way to remember Stephen! This is year 15 of our fundraiser. Over the past 14 years, we have awarded approximately $35,000 in scholarships and book allowances. Because of your help and the success of this event, this scholarship will continue for at least another 30 years.

We would like to give special thanks to George Harrington and 43 Church restaurant for hosting this event, to Brian Maes and the band for providing the entertainment, to the past recipients who attended, and to The Salem News for providing excellent community service by helping us market this event. With the help of all, this event was a great success. Your help was greatly appreciated.
