Letter: Mills a worthy candidate for selectman

To the editor:

I am writing this letter to help you in making voting choices at our annual May 7, 2013, town election. I would ask you to consider David A. Mills as a worthy candidate for a position on the Board of Selectmen for the town of Danvers.

David is not running against any of the other candidates, rather he is running solely for the office and with the desire to give back to our wonderful town.

David is a lifelong citizen of Danvers. He has held several positions in the town: Town moderator for three years, member of the first Cable Advisory Committee, a Town Meeting member for many years, all prior to his nomination to the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

David has been a lawyer since 1968 and has worked in many venues of the law in his private practice for 26 years, until being appointed as a judge to the Appeals Court. He has also argued three cases before the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. David is now retired, however he continues to work as a volunteer in the Divorce Court for couples who are divorcing and cannot afford a lawyer, and does so at no cost to the couple. David has found this service to be a “new and richly rewarding experience.”

David comes to this election with a deep desire to continue to keep our town one of the best towns to live in on the North Shore through utilizing his vast knowledge of our town, through caring, civility and the use of his knowledge and abilities that have accumulated over the years. These have come from his varied work, civic involvement and social experiences.

David is committed to always keeping the average citizen, as well as the business sector, especially in these continued difficult financial times, in mind at all times as he deliberates the business and issues that come before him as a member of the Board of Selectmen. He pledges to keep an open mind in all deliberations of all issues that arise before the board.
