Letter: Statue should have been seen by all

To the editor:

The city of Salem, in my opinion, has insulted every member of the old St. Joseph Parish.

The covered statue of St. Joseph should be uncovered again and put in a place of honor in the area for all to see.

All of us, students of St. Joseph School (1946) and Academy (1950) stood and watched the statue come down from the old church and stood for a few years in the “girls” school yard.

Then we watched it being lowered into the ground along the sidewalk on Lafayette St., behind the now missing World War I and II Roll of Honor.

More than 200 students attended these events. there are still many of us still here and want to see that statue to show our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We deserve that.

Also, I resent your comment that it was an urban legend. Shame on you.
