Letter: Tierney has shown integrity

To the editor:

John Tierney has served this district with integrity, hard work, and concern for his constituents. When I have contacted him on occasion regarding a matter, he replied with a thoughtful, well-reasoned letter.

Now there is a concerted effort by his opposition to besmirch that reputation. May I remind them that various legal authorities investigated the illegal activities of his brothers-in-law and his wife? None found any basis for implicating Congressman Tierney.

If this opposition has PROOF that these authorities are in error, that the investigations were compromised, then they owe it to us to reveal it. I for one do not accept the rantings of a man who would enmesh his own sister in his illegal activities. Hearsay is NOT evidence.

If they have no hard facts to back their claims, then they are the ones who are untrustworthy.
