Letter: It's not all about making money

To the editor:

The news seems increasingly filled with mentions of business interests.

Sure, there are a lot of restaurants in Salem. Sure, a new this or that shop opened.

Is the aim of life to have a fine meal? Is the meaning of being alive on earth the purchase of a new T-shirt?

The mayor was elected by the people of Salem, not the businesses. The Salem News is the local newspaper, not just the Salem financial news.

Hello, Salem News. We are here, though we don't sell anything. We are breathing, though not for a profit.
