To the editor:
On behalf of the Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Council on Aging, thank you to the local companies, sponsors and volunteers whose donations of time and services helped make our Council on Aging events during Salem Heritage Days so successful.
We had three great events that were all very well-attended — an ice cream social at the Council on Aging, a barbecue at Winter Island and a dinner-dance at the Moose Lodge.
These events would not be possible without the support of the following: Mayor Kim Driscoll, state Rep. John Keenan, Salem Council on Aging Advisory Board, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, The Salem Trolley, Steve's Quality Market, Elder Service Plan of the North Shore, SideKim Catering and the Salem Garden Club.
A big thank-you to the Moose Family Lodge, which generously donated the hall and food for the senior dinner-dance, which was a fun night for all involved.
As always, special appreciation goes to our staff and volunteers who do a great job organizing and hosting these events.
We are thankful for the wonderful organizations and people who help enhance the lives of our Salem senior citizens.
