Letter: In praise of theatrical gems

To the editor:

In the past, I have written of the many reasons I love living in Salem, “Gateway to the North Shore,” as it’s known: its history, harbor, university, hospital, world-class Peabody Essex Museum, its vibrancy and its dynamic mayor, Kim Driscoll. However, I neglected our proximity to two wonderful entertainment venues, the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, and a first-class gem for live theater, as good as any to be found whether Boston or New York for great acting, the Gloucester Stage Company. It is theater at its best, in my humble view. Boston may be bigger, but it sure isn’t better than what we have in Salem and the North Shore!
