Letter: Will we bail out only the wealthy?

Isaiah 10 states, “Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.”

I am pretty confident any fight against an oppressor with this much power is a losing fight, but God doesn’t call us to win the fight, but to fight the fight.

We can rally, we can speak out, write letters, support those that fight for the oppressed, and most importantly, speak the truth. This sequester is a message that this country will only bail out the wealthiest and that it will ignore the least among us. The Bible teaches that we show our love or hatred of God through how we treat the least, and with that in mind, I think it is time to acknowledge our nation’s sin and then to repent.
