To the editor:
The Community House of Hamilton and Wenham was once again proud to present the series of free concerts in Patton Park this summer. Thanks to our numerous sponsors and supporters, people from all over the North Shore enjoyed a diverse selection of music in the Hamilton bandstand.
Starting with our own local talent featured in Broadway in the Park (produced by Diane Dupee-Disanto), the season included the classic rock of Britannica, then Quintessential Brass for a traditional Fourth of July concert.
Audiences enjoyed folk, bluegrass and gospel of the Goodhues; the lush voice of Henri Smith and the music of the amazing New Orleans jazz musicians he assembled; and 4 Guys in Tuxes again delighted the audience with popular requests.
Happily, all eight concerts were presented outside in the park, despite a few anxious moments when rain threatened.
The exuberant Los Sugar Kings so fittingly ended our season. The audience could hardly resist the Latin beat and joined in the fun of a salsa lesson, too! (Try catching a few of these concerts on our local cable station. Visit www.hwcam.org for the schedule.)
The volunteer committee which organizes and coordinates the Sundays in Patton Park wishes to express sincere appreciation to all the local businesses, organizations and individuals who responded to the request to fund this community endeavor again this year.
We are forever grateful for the support of the Hamilton-Wenham Community House and Executive Director Melissa Elmer, as well as our major sponsors, The Friends of the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Please also join us in thanking the following: (Conductor Level) Anthony & Dodge PC; Crosby's Marketplace; the Patton Family; Dr. Scott Pett; H-W Veterinary Hospital; Family Medicine Associates; Friends of the Wenham Council on Aging; Honda North; Salem Five Charitable Foundation; (Musician Level) Hamilton-Wenham Cultural Council; Action Business Coaching; Connolly's Pharmacy; Hamilton Bookkeeping; Hamilton Dentistry, Drs. Charles & Laura Vorrias; Hamilton Wenham Rotary Club; G.H. Ricker Inc.; Paul & Ann Ricker; Rep. Brad Hill; Sports Stop; H-W Lions Club; (Friend and Fan Level) Buyer's Choice Realty; Hamilton Athletic Club; Locksmyth's Hair; Donald E. Costin; Essex County Co-op; Dr. Jerry, Chiropractor.
None of this music would be possible without the continuing goodwill and financial support of our local community.
The planning for these concerts constitutes a year-round commitment by a dedicated committee of volunteers.
Additional thanks is extended to Jeanne Maurand, Ron Chane, Emily Hayden, Deb Morrison and Julie Preston.
We always welcome financial contributions, as well as suggestions for performers.
