To the editor:
The Danvers Police Department would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the 2013 Danvers Police DARE Golf Tournament. With the help of the business community, volunteers and all the golfers, we were able to raise over $6,000. Because of fundraisers like this and the continued support of our community, the town of Danvers will continue to educate children through DARE.
Thanks to all the residents and businesses who donated generously toward our raffle prizes. Many thanks to the following 2013 sponsors:
ACP Facility Services, Arck Enterprises (Danvers Gulf Mart), Arrowhead Contractors, Atlantic Semi Conductor, Cherry St. Fish Market, Courtyard Marriott, Danvers Ford, Danvers Roofing, Danvers Town Place Suites, English Commons, Fairview Machine, Gilmore & Gilmore, Golfer’s Warehouse, Henry’s Foods, J. Masterson Construction, Kane’s Flower World, Kappy’s Liquors, Liberty Marina, LRC, Marriott Residence Inn, Merchants Liquor Mart, Michaud and Raymond Oil, Onion Town Grill, Peabody Police Benevolent, People’s United Bank, Sunnyside Bowladrome, Supino’s Restaurant, Timothy’s, United Martial Arts.
DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. It is a drug-abuse prevention education program designed to equip elementary, middle and high school children with knowledge about drug abuse, the consequences of abuse, and skills for resisting peer pressure to experiment with drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
DARE provides a positive atmosphere for students to interact with uniformed law enforcement officers. This unique program uses uniformed law enforcement officers to teach a formal curriculum to students in a classroom setting.
Money raised goes to classroom supplies and after-school activities, including volleyball, floor hockey, basketball and bowling.
Thank you again.
