Letter: Great letter on church and the Point

To the editor:

Today, Tuesday, Aug. 31, I read with great interest and amazement the letter to the editor from Angie Clement ("Plans for St. Joseph's site don't fit with Point neighborhood").

I always enjoy the letters, though some are just dribble. But today I was so impressed with this woman's concern and suggestions. She should run for office; or better yet, work for The Salem News!

I agree with Ms. Clement about how the Point always seems to be given the title of 'hood or slum or dangerous area.

The Catholic Church, one of the wealthiest organizations in the world, can certainly find a better use for St. Joseph's other than even considering a CVS or any other chain that would bring more traffic, drugs, and problems to this area.

Someone on the board of Salem's political powers should try and improve this residential area. Make it safe, as it was years ago with working people raising their families and enjoying the Point.
