Letter: Thanks for a wonderful outpouring

To the editor:

On July 27, an event was held in my honor aptly named “Buds for Bob.” Words cannot express my appreciation for that amazing evening. It was estimated that 700 to 800 people squeezed into the Franco American Club in Beverly on my behalf. I am not sure how to thank all those who made me feel so special. It was like a scene from the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” and I was George Bailey!

I want to thank the Franco American Club and especially Billy Gates, who went out of his way to provide a great venue with enough food and drink for everyone. A very special thank you goes out to the committee members: Lisa and Joe Willwerth, Pam Rosinski, Mike Nardella, Beth Coz, Sue Richardson, Sarah Mitchell, Lucia Darr and Paula DeConti who worked tirelessly for months to organize this wonderful event. Thanks to the band “Day Job,” who provided great entertainment. I also want to thank the individuals and businesses who donated the outstanding auction and raffle items, and to everyone that made a donation to “Buds for Bob,” thank you! My hope is that someday I will pay it forward.

The outpouring of support by people from all phases of my life is indescribable. I have truly been blessed, and the kindness shown to me will never be forgotten.
