To the editor:
Congressman Tierney claims that the Republicans want to cut spending on Medicare and Medicaid, etc., thereby causing hardships for the nation. He neglected to state that the Republicans want to repeal only certain areas that would be detrimental to the country, especially for the seniors. Tierney conventionally forgot that the government took billions of dollars from Medicare to pay for the Obamacare as well as having a plan to put a tax on wages ($200,000) and investments to pay for the healthcare and also that he voted to put a tax on medical devices which would of course pass onto the customers. Frankly, I believe the government should have tried to revamp the Medicare and Medicaid programs rather than setting up a new health plan with plenty of pitfalls yet to be seen. The doctor informed my brother that lung problems could be x-rayed twice a year under the Medicare plan, but only once every two years under the new plan. As Pelosi said, “just pass the bill and we’ll find out what is in it.” Common sense should tell anyone that taking billions of dollars from Medicare to help pay for Obamacare could be disastrous for seniors who may not get the care under the new plan that they are now getting under Medicare. Better stay well seniors! No, Tierney, the Republicans will not cause the downfall of the nation; it will be people like you who voted for the plan and the dictatorial government. If the plan is that great why are you and others in Congress not on the plan? Romney did pass a health plan in Mass. but not at the people’s expense that the new plan will be doing. For many years now, the government has been operating on what is good for the government and/or Congress but not for the people.
