Letter: Philharmonic one of Salem's gem

To the editor:

My thanks, and the thanks of every person in the audience, for the 2012 season of the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra.

Salem is made up of many historic and cultural resources that trace their roots from its early settlement to the present day.

The Salem Philharmonic Orchestra brings to life the talents of students and veteran musicians alike. The talents of the outstanding guest artists make its Sunday performances a remarkable tour de force.

A great city has a great cultural resource in the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra.

Thank you, musicians, for filling this warm winter with musical delight.

Peter D. LaChapelle

Salem

(Editor's note: Peter LaChapelle was a longtime staff member at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site and was himself instrumental in the preservation of treasured resources including Pioneer Village and the Derby Wharf lighthouse.)
