Perhaps the Federal Aviation Administration can suggest some changes in policies and procedures to help neighbors of Beverly Airport, upset with the sound of planes using the tiny facility.
It sounds like the Airport Commission has tried to accommodate them, to no avail. And the commission's data shows air traffic has actually declined significantly over the past couple of decades.
Sadly this may be one of those problems without a solution acceptable to everyone.
The airport has been there since 1928, and has long been home to flying schools whose students' touch-and-go procedures that are the source of many of the noise complaints. Unfortunately, even the best flight simulator is no substitute for taking off and landing in a real aircraft.
Just as people who live near railroad tracks had better get used to the trains, those who choose to live near airports must tolerate the sound of planes.
