BEVERLY — Tonight's public hearing on the proposed Black Cow restaurant has been postponed.

The city and Black Cow owner Joseph Leone requested the postponement, City Planner Tina Cassidy said. The hearing has been rescheduled for May 19 during the Planning Board's meeting.

The hearing began on March 17 and was left open by the Planning Board so the public could comment further on the proposal. Leone plans to build a Black Cow restaurant on land that he would lease from the city at the site of the former McDonald's restaurant near the Beverly-Salem bridge.

The Planning Board and the Conservation Commission must approve the project. The Conservation Commission is scheduled to take up the matter at its meeting tonight at 7 at the Beverly Public Library.
