Published: June 10, 2008

SALEM — Salem CyberSpace, which offers computer training to low-income and unemployed people, is expanding its services to offer Microsoft Office Specialist and IC3 exams. Both exams certify a higher-than-average level of computer literacy.

Microsoft Office Specialist attests to proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. The IC3, or Internet and Computing Core Certification exam, measures digital literacy and knowledge of computer and Internet applications. Salem CyberSpace offers training for these tests for a fee, but members may use practice software and computers for free during public access hours.

The tests will be given at Salem CyberSpace's technology learning center at 98 Lafayette St. in Salem. There is a fee of $75 for a single test, and $85 for a test plus one retake. Reservations can be made at 978-740-6667.
