The Marblehead Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed new member Luxebeautique at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their location at 222 Humphrey St. in Swampscott. Proprietor Amy DePerrior is a makeup artist from AME Style Studios and a North Shore resident. Her accomplishments include being chosen as makeup artist to the New England Patriots Cheerleaders three years in a row, and having her work featured in Improper Bostonian, Stuff @ Night, Platinum Magazine, and Fox Sports. The spa opened over the summer.

Marshall Jespersen, president of International Cars of Danvers, was recently presented with the Governors Highway Safety Association Peter K. O'Rourke Special Achievement Award at a ceremony in Portland, Ore. Jespersen was nominated for the national award, which is presented to organizations, individuals or agencies with significant accomplishments in the field of highway safety, for his work with Skid School, an advanced driver-training program for teens. He was nominated by the Massachusetts State Auto Dealer Association.

The Burger King restaurant at 259 Highland Drive in Salem raised $9,732 for the Jimmy Fund through the "A Chance for Kids" program, which ran July 31 through Sept. 5 in Burger Kings throughout New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Ohio. This brought the total raised in 2007 to support pediatric cancer research to $1.4 million.

Since 1948, the generosity of millions of people has helped the Jimmy Fund save countless lives by furthering cancer research and care. Danvers Wal-Mart recently donated $2,000 to the Danvers Police DARE program as they continue their partnership with the Danvers police. Wal-Mart has donated over $10,000 to the Police Department since opening its Route 114 store. Accepting the donation from Wal-Mart Community Outreach Supervisor Kim Pride were Officers Adam French and Olivia Silva, and Sgt. Robert Bettencourt.
