Melissa Marie Barnes and Michael Paul Leaver were married on Oct. 18, 2008 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Chicopee with Father Francis Kennedy officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Sandra Barnes of Chicopee. She is a 2001 graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School, and a 2005 graduate of Westfield State College. She is a senior staff accountant with TRC Companies, Inc. in Windsor, Conn.
The groom is the son of James and Constance Leaver of Peabody. He is a 2000 graduate of Peabody Veterans' Memorial High School, and also a 2005 graduate of Westfield State College. He is employed as a computer technician for the Colchester, Conn. Public School System.
Lydia Barnes, sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kerrie Leaver, sister of the groom, Katrina Barnes, cousin of the bride, and Melissa Sheehan. Kassidy Leaver, niece of the groom, was a junior bridesmaid. Hannah Provost, cousin of the bride was the flower girl, and Vincent Calvanese, III, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.
James Leaver, Jr. served as best man for his brother. Groomsmen included Shaun Barnes, brother of the bride, Andrew O'Donnell, Gregory Spyropoulos and Jake Robertson.
After a wedding trip to Atlantic City, N.J., the couple resides in Agawam.
