Melissa Irene Katz and Brett Thomas Maitland were married on Aug. 2, 2008 at Tupper Manor in Beverly. Justice of the Peace Fran McDonald officiated. A reception was held at the Tupper Manor. The bride's father David gave his daughter in marriage.
Melissa is the daughter of David and Sheila Katz of Marblehead. Brett is the son of Peter and Barbara Maitland of Salem.
The maid of honor was Sherri Schultz of New York, N.Y. The bridesmaids were Halie Glick of Marblehead, Sarah Bridges of Marblehead, and Katie LeClerc of Salem. The flower girl was Marley Davis, daughter of Seth and Heidi of South Orange, N.J.
The best man was Mark Maitland of Salem. The ushers were Jason Hancock of Salem, Andrew Viglas of Salem, and the late Michael McGilvery of Salem. the ring bearer was Zach Davis, son of Seth and Heidi of South Orange.
Melissa is a graduate of Marblehead High School. She received a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University and will receive an M.Ed. in Sports Management from Endicott College in May of 2009. She currently works at Conn Kavanaugh in Boston as a Legal Assistant.
Brett is a graduate of Salem High School. He works at the Transportation Security Administration in Boston as a Lead Officer.
The couple vacationed in Negril, Jamaica for their honeymoon.
They reside in Marblehead.
