Clean as a whistle in Salem
The Salem High School Marching Band will hold a car wash Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Salem High School, 77 Willson St. Cost is $5, to benefit the high school's annual Band Camp, instrument repairs and new equipment.
Prosecutor-turned-artist
Abstract in design but urgent as graffiti on a prison wall, "Rhythm and (Re)Emergence" presents artwork by Thaddeus Beal, a one-time Suffolk County prosecutor who paints at a studio in Essex. The exhibit runs Aug. 29 to Oct. 23, Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Gordon College, Barrington Center for the Arts, 255 Grapevine Road, Wenham.
