Brides, don't make the groom and groomsmen wear pink ties

By ASK CARLEY

Q. My fiancee wants my groomsmen and me to wear ties to match the bridesmaid dresses, but they're pink! Do we really have to do this?

A. Not if you don't want to. Besides, lots of couples are tossing out the matchy-matchy look and going for something more original.

Suggest wearing ties in a more neutral color, like black, white or cream, since they'll more or less go with anything — even pink! Explain to your fiancee that you want to look handsome for her, but you also want to feel comfortable.

If she's still set on pink, look for patterned ties, like black with pink pinstripes, or a fun design with pink accents. No matter what, be sure you're happy with your look since this is your wedding day, too.
