Coming home from war

Ipswich High 1979 graduate Deahn Berrini will read from her novel "Milkweed" on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Swampscott Public Library, 61 Burrill St. Her story tells of a young woman coming of age in a town on the New England coast whose boyfriend is just back from Vietnam and struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder. Singing sisterhood

Sorellanza, an a capella women's chorus from Cape Ann, brings their fall concert, "With Calls of Longing," comprising songs that speak to the search for peace and a place of belonging, to First Parish Unitarian Church, 225 Cabot St., Beverly, on Sunday at 4 p.m.¬ Admission is $10 per person.
