Salem High newspaper now available in Salem News online

Salem News

SALEM - Salem High School and The Salem News are collaborating on a new project to make the high school newspaper available online.

Beginning today, the high school newspaper, Witches Brew, will be available to readers in the community at large through a link on The Salem News Web page, www.salemnews.com.

Witches Brew co-editors Kaitlyn Benjamin and Angela Christoforos, both 17, said they came up with the idea in their service learning class at the high school, and they are excited to see it come to fruition.

"It's going to benefit the school and reach out to the community more than just a school project," Christoforos said.

Benjamin and Christoforos, who are seniors, pointed to some of the highlights in today's edition, such as an interview with the principal and new teachers, editorials, and a humor column called "The Village Idiot," about complaints and rumors at the school.

"The budget crisis and the layoffs - it's affecting the school a lot," Benjamin said. "This will make people feel better, that there are good things happening, too."

The Witches Brew is published quarterly during the school year.
