Gatherings: A day for heroes

By Cate Lecuyer
Staff writer

BEVERLY — About a dozen people and organizations were honored this morning during the American Red Cross sixth annual Heroes Breakfast.

Awards recognize those in the North Shore who "have demonstrated a commitment to others that is above and beyond the call of duty."

More than 400 people attended, and the event raised just over $32,000, organizer Julie Manninen said.

"We did really well this year," she said.
