Police hunt for Swampscott bank robber

SWAMPSCOTT — Police are looking for a bank robber who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash yesterday from Eastern Bank in Vinnin Square.

Swampscott police detectives said no weapon was shown.

No one was injured in the robbery, which was reported to police at 11:20 a.m.

The suspect, photographed on bank surveillance cameras, is described as a white man with scruffy facial hair, 30 to 40 years of age. He is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and appears to weigh approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing an older-style Chicago White Sox hat with a large S in the front of the hat and the letters O and X smaller in size.

The hat was white and pinstriped with a blue rim. He was wearing a tan Carhartt jacket with a green-and-yellow emblem on the right side of his chest. He had on blue jeans, white sneakers and had a gray "hoodie" under his jacket.
