Swampscott Scout cleans up pond at Brooksby Farm

PEABODY — As part of his Eagle Scout project, Swampscott resident Felix Gorovodsky and fellow Scouts from Troop 53 cleaned up brush around a small pond at Brooksby Farm.

Gorovodsky said he and his team also "worked to replace a drainage pipe that was broken over the past winters." Gorovodsky has been in charge of planning his Eagle Scout project during the past six months.

"I believe opening this area allows the surrounding communities to come to a nice, quiet environment to have a picnic or to do some fishing," Gorovodsky said. "The cleaning of the brush has now opened up the area for local people."

Gorovodsky worked at Brooksby Farm from September to December of last fall and was given the idea for his project by the previous farm manager, but worked with current manager Patrick Kirksceonaitis for his project.

Gorovodsky said Home Depot in Salem, Market Basket in Salem, Northeast Nursery in Peabody and The Bourneuf Corp. in Lynn donated materials for his project.
