IPSWICH — Two North Shore men arrested in New Hampshire following a bank robbery last week and linked to two bank robberies in Danvers are being linked to another one in Ipswich.
Ipswich police issued arrest warrants for Jeffrey Monico, 28, of 2 Ledgewood Way, Peabody, and Kevin Maloney, 28, of Saugus, for an April 28 unarmed robbery at Sovereign Bank on Central Street.
Both men face charges of unarmed robbery, according to a press release from the Police Department. The men are being held on $750,000 bail following their arraignment on similar charges for an unarmed robbery last week at Digital Credit Union in Nashua, N.H.
On Wednesday, Danvers police announced the men were responsible for two unarmed robberies in their town on April 17 and 19 at Salem Five banks. The robbers had a similar description and method of operation — passing a note to a teller demanding cash — in the two robberies.
Ipswich police worked with the FBI, the state police bank robbery task force and police from surrounding communities, including Danvers and Beverly, since April 27 to track down robbers in their town.
Ipswich police Lt. Daniel Moriarty supervised the investigation. Detectives Peter Dziadosz and Michael Thomas led the investigation of the Ipswich bank robbery, with Patrolmen Jeremy Dziadosz and Jason Monteiro assisting.
Just prior to the Ipswich robbery, police said the pair attempted to rob a Bank of America branch on Enon Street in Beverly, but a teller denied the suspect's request for cash.
Beverly police wouldn't say if the pair faces attempted robbery charges.
A Beverly police spokesman, Patrolman John McCarthy, referred all questions to the Essex County District Attorney's Office.
The men were robbing banks to feed their heroin addictions, according to information from a Lawrence police report.
