Operation Troop Support reports that Jimmy George has begun his fifth year collecting monetary donations and/or items to send to the soldiers serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
George has faithfully stood in Danvers Square every Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4, rain or shine. The money collected has gone directly to pay the postage on the care packages, which average $10 to $20 per package, and the items donated have been sent out weekly to raise the spirit and morale of our servicemen and women.
For the month of May, the items that are needed most are lip balm, sunscreen and insect repellent. As always, monetary donations are appreciated.

The North Shore Frogmen's Club has announced that the club's new meeting location is the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club, 134 McKay St., Beverly. Meetings are held every Thursday at 8 p.m. and are open to the public.
The next meeting on May 15 will feature "The Ghost of Charron Lake" with Pat Madden. Annette Spaulding will be featured at the next meeting on May 15. The duo will detail the story of a brave pilot who made an emergency landing on a frozen lake in Northern Canada in a blinding snowstorm during the winter of 1931. After a death-defying trek to civilization and safety his aircraft plunged to the depths during the following spring thaw. Madden and Spaulding will offer an exciting lecture of the 30-year search and successful dive-recovery operations of this vintage 1928 Fokker airplane.
Madden is a certified master dive instructor who supervised the Canadian underwater search-and-rescue team for seven years and has extensive training in underwater archeology. Spaulding, who has been diving for more than 25 years, is a certified dive master who served on the Vermont and New Hampshire underwater search-and-recovery team since 1981 and also assisted in filming the 1977 movie "The Deep."
The Frogmen extend congratulations to Al Morris of Wenham for winning the Trident Wreck diving reel at the recent Scapa flow lecture. This item was graciously donated by Bob Boyle and Undersea Divers of Beverly.
