Beverly High will fete big benchmark

BEVERLY — Workers on Monday will top off the frame of the new Beverly High School academic building.

"Placing the last piece of steel onto a construction project is one of those special benchmarks," Superintendent James Hayes said.

The last beam will be painted white, and students and staff will have the opportunity to sign it before it's topped off with a tree and American flag.

After about four months of construction, the topping-off ceremony marks the completion of the frame of the building. The ceremony is at 11:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

Project manager Steve Stafford has said the project is on schedule. The electrical and plumbing infrastructure is in place, and now that the structural steel is in place, work can begin on the inside of the school.
