Electronics collection day is Saturday in Beverly

BEVERLY — The city's annual electronics collection day will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Beverly High School.

Residents can dispose of some items at no charge and other items for a fee ranging from $3 to $8.

The event was established by the city in 2005 as a less expensive way for residents to dispose of electronics. To place them on the curb for pickup, residents must buy a $20 sticker or pay $35 to $50 to have Freon removed.

The city has collected items from more than 500 Beverly residents each year at electronics day, according to the Solid Waste Management Committee, which organizes the event. The high school football team has assisted in the collection for the last two years.

Proceeds from the event go to those two groups and help pay for a police detail and advertising.
