PEABODY — A 32-year-old Danvers mom forgot her 2-month-old daughter in her car yesterday while shopping at Babies "R" Us.

Police spokesman Lt. Dennis Bonaiuto said he doesn't anticipate any charges filed against the mother, but the state Department of Social Services will be investigating.

Police received a call for an unattended baby in the car in the parking lot of the baby megastore on Route 114 at 11:20 a.m.

Police, firefighters and Northshore Ambulance responded to the scene and found the baby girl in the car. Police were able to open the door, and they knew immediately she was fine.

Northshore Ambulance transported the baby to North Shore Children's Hospital as a precaution, Bonaiuto said.

Patrolman Rick Cameron located the mother in the store, and she told police she forgot the baby in the car.

Bonaiuto declined to identify the mother.
