"Shall the City of Beverly be allowed to assess an additional $2,500,000.00 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding the operating budget of the Beverly Public Schools for which the monies from this assessment will be used for the fiscal year beginning July first, two thousand eight."

r A yes vote ...

Means no schools will close next year. The administration will have a year to come up with a school consolidation plan or other means of dealing with budget problems. Property taxes will be permanently increased.

r A no vote ...

Means the McKeown Elementary School will close at the end of this school year, teachers will be laid off, and elementary students throughout the city will be redistricted into the remaining schools.

r Cost if override passes, based on home value

$250,000 — $103 per year

$350,000 — $144 per year

$450,000 — $185 per year

$550,000 — $226 per year
