Beverly's Registry branch to close

BEVERLY — In a decision bound to impact downtown Beverly businesses the state Registry of Motor Vehicles its branch at 176 Cabot St. — as well as11 branches statewide — in a move it says will save $1.7 million annually.

The branch closings will begin this month in Lowell and end in December in Boston.

In addition to Beverly, branches are also closing in North Attleboro, Cambridge, New Bedford, Springfield, Southbridge, Framingham, Falmouth and Eastham.
