r Two girls were arrested at 3:30 a.m. after police responded to a call from a Peabody Essex Museum security guard who reported vandalism to a bell and granite marker on Essex Street. The bell sits outside the Visitors Center across the street from the museum. Written on the bell in a black marker was "Tiana loves Bob" and another expletive-laced comment about Tiana. Police found two girls sitting on a bench on Bridge Street; the girls fit the description from the security guard. The girls denied being on Essex Street, but one of the girls had a black marker in her hand. Police charged the two girls with three counts of defacement of personal property and tagging. One girl who lied about her age was also charged with providing false information to a police officer.
r Police responded to 16 Front St. at 9:40 a.m. for a report of a stolen laptop. An employee discovered the missing laptop after returning from the long holiday weekend. The office was locked, and there was no forced entry.
r Robert D. Clarke, 43, who is listed as homeless, was arrested on numerous charges following a bicycle/police cruiser chase beginning at the Hess gas station on North Street. Police received information and a description of a man who was using a stolen credit card. Patrolman Frederick Dubiel located Clarke at the gas station on a bicycle when the brief chase ensued. Police stopped Clarke nearby on Waters Street, and Clarke was found with two stolen credit cards. After an investigation, police allege Clarke used one stolen credit card to buy a bicycle, a diamond ring and clothing from Target and another credit card to buy cartons of cigarettes at two CVS locations. Clarke was charged with two counts of receiving a stolen credit card, two counts of identity fraud, two counts of larceny and five counts of credit card fraud.
r Maria M. Sanabria, 35, of 6 Knowlton St., Beverly, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. and charged with drunken driving, negligent driving, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, and speeding following a motor vehicle crash near 400 Highland Ave.

r John P. Bosse, 28, of 21 North Main St., Ipswich, was arrested at 11:48 a.m. and charged with heroin possession following a report of a drunken man on the bench at 84 Highland Ave.
r Police responded to Jackson Street at midnight for a report of a man in a hospital johnny and an IV in his arm. The man said he was tired of waiting at Salem Hospital and walked out. He ended up deciding to go back to the hospital and was taken there by Northshore Ambulance.
r A man who appeared to be drunk on Washington Street at 9 a.m. caused some suspicion for residents who reported him to police. Police responded and determined the man wasn't drunk. The man told police his girlfriend had just given birth to his son at Salem Hospital, and he had not slept in more than 72 hours. He said his girlfriend is currently having medical issues. The new father showed police his medical bracelet to confirm his story. Patrolman Brian St. Pierre gave the man a ride back to the hospital to be with his girlfriend and son.
r A bicyclist was struck by a motor vehicle on Jefferson Avenue at 3:30 p.m. and suffered injuries to his right toe.

r Alexandra Schulte, 27, of 19 Highland Park, Peabody, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and battery at Dunkin' Donuts.

r Police received a report at 11 p.m. from a Juniper Road resident who reported someone in their backyard with a flashlight looking around for something — possibly her dogs. Police responded but did not find anything out of the ordinary.

r Police responded to the beach along Lothrop Street for a hypodermic needle found floating in the water approximately a quarter-mile offshore.

r James Kennedy, 62, of 3 Gary Lane, Exeter, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. and charged with drunken driving following a motor vehicle stop on Route 97. Sgt. Rick Lobel and Patrolman Neal Hovey made the arrest.

r Nicholas D. Nowlan, 22, of 29 Paris St., Everett, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. and charged with drunken driving (second offense), driving with a revoked license (second offense), speeding and a marked lanes violation following a motor vehicle stop on Ocean Avenue by Atlantic Avenue.

r Luz E. Quiroz, 58, of 17 Myrtdyle St., Apt. 2R, Everett, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. and charged with drunken driving and negligent driving on Humphrey Street.
