HAMILTON — A good description helped police track down a man they said was committing a lewd act inside his parked car on Wednesday.

Frederick P. Paulitz, 79, of 95 North Ridge Road, Ipswich, was arrested the following day in Ipswich by Hamilton police after his vehicle was spotted.

Hamilton Detective Stephen Trepanier said police have been looking for the vehicle after a 39-year-old woman said she saw a man engaging in a lewd act in his car in the Hamilton-Wenham Community House parking lot on Bay Road. The woman left the parking lot, and the man left also.

The victim told police Sgt. Scott James at 11:30 a.m. that she was in her car when the man pulled up next to her car. She told police he was driving an older brown Toyota sedan with a number of black Angus meat boxes inside.

Detective Stephen Trepanier said Ipswich Patrolman Jonathan Hubbard spotted the vehicle yesterday in Ipswich and stopped the car in Brown Square in Ipswich.

Trepanier responded to Ipswich, interviewed Paulitz and later arrested him. Paulitz was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior.

Paulitz was arraigned yesterday at Ipswich District Court in Newburyport. His next court date is Sept. 4.
