Four establishments sold liquor during sting

By Ethan Forman

DANVERS — Two local establishments and two chain restaurants allegedly sold some Bud Light to an underage, undercover police compliance checker last month, police chief Neil Ouellette told selectmen.

Ouellette gave the rundown to selectmen last week, and the board scheduled hearings on Dec. 2.

Those cited were:

Merchants Liquor Mart, 88 High St.;

Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St.;

Uno Restaurant, 194 Endicott St.;

Vinny T's of Boston, 100 Independence Way, in the Liberty Tree Mall.

The liquor compliance checks were performed Sept. 5 at all 46 liquor license holders in town, both pouring and package establishments, the chief said.

Last fall, just one business sold to a minor during a similar check.

"It's a continuing education effort for the businesses," Ouellette said. "What we planned to do, regardless of the current sting, is to do a seminar for the current establishments."

This seminar will take place on Oct. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holten Richmond Middle School.

A speaker will talk about pouring, signs and other mandates for licensed , the chief said.
