Benefactor helps Salem State buy expansion property Salem State to expand across the street

SALEM - The Beverly philanthropist who donated $2.5 million to Salem State College last year, the largest private gift in its history, stepped in again yesterday to help the college acquire an adjacent industrial site for expansion.

North Shore developer Henry Bertolon paid $4.5 million to buy Weir Valves & Controls, 265-285 Canal St., a property he plans to sell to the college for the same price once Salem State secures state funds for the acquisition.Read this article in full with a
