SWAMPSCOTT —The Salem Five bank in Vinnin Square was robbed at 4:35 p.m. yesterday when police said a tall, thin man went up to a teller and passed a note demanding money.

The bank is at 450 Paradise Road, Suite 3, in the Swampscott Mall. The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled toward Lynn, Detective Sgt. Tim Cassidy said.

No one was injured in the robbery, Cassidy said.

Swampscott police called in a state police K-9 unit to investigate.

Police described the suspect as 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall with a thin build and wearing dark clothing. The FBI bank robbery task force, state police crime scene investigators and Swampscott detectives are following up. Patrol officers John Cassidy, Candace Doyle, Michael Frayler and Sgt. Richard McCarriston responded and checked the area for the suspect but did not locate him.
